By: Jennifer Saba More heads are rolling at Newsday as newly minted Publisher Timothy Knight tries to get the paper back on course after the circulation setback. On Thursday, five circulation employees were fired, according to an article in Newsday. In a letter to employees, Knight said that it was "part our commitment to ensure the integrity of our circulation practices."
None of the five employees were named, but reporters at Newsday wrote that sources within the paper identified Robert Bergin, director of New York City circulation; Robert Garcia, circulation manager (and one of the defendants named in the lawsuit); Dot McKillop, director of single-copy sales; Dennis Springer, manager of home delivery; and Gerry Schultz, manager of single-copy sales.
Knight appointed two interim circulation supervisors: David Bennett from the Hartford Courant in Conn., and Paul Barbetta from The (Baltimore) Sun.
