By: The Newseum of Arlington, Va., has compiled over 100 first-person stories of how journalists and news organizations covered Sept. 11 for a book to be published in August by Rowman & Littlefield.
"Running Toward Danger: Stories Behind the Breaking News of 9/11" was written by Cathy Trost, a former
Wall Street Journal reporter, and Alicia C. Shepard, media critic for
American Journalism Review. A forward was written by NBC Nightly News anchor Tom Brokaw.
The book grew out of an exhibit at the Newseum that chronicled international coverage of the attacks.
The 256-page hardcover book is priced at $29.95, with a portion of the proceeds going to a fund for journalists and broadcast technicians injured in the attacks and for survivors of victims.
