By: A newspaper carrier awakened a Lenior City family, who got out of their burning house just before it was enveloped in flames.

Knoxville News Sentinel carrier Carston Jane McKee was running her route early Saturday when she saw a fire on the porch of a log cabin and began banging on the windows of the house and screaming.

Shawn and Charlene Dunsmore and their 8-year-old son, James Paul Dunsmore, ran from the cabin barefooted.

Charlene Dunsmore says McKee saved the family's lives.

The carrier was in the neighborhood about 45 minutes earlier than usual because the newspaper had moved up its press run on the holiday weekend.
