The private research group, which surveys help-wanted advertising at each month at 51 newspapers in the U.S., said want-ad volume in the U.S. in February was 39 on its gauge, an increase up from a revised projection of 38. The group's original projection was 37.

The firm said help-wanted ad volume on the Internet dropped from about 2,162,000 in January to 1,987,000 in February.
