By: E&P Staff NewspaperDirect, the same-day local printer of newspapers from around the world, on Tuesday launched "Newspaper Radio," a service that allows users to listen to newspaper articles on their computer or mobile phone.
Vancouver, B.C.-based NewspaperDirect said its www.PressDisplay.com site, which makes available hundreds of newspapers for online or off-line viewing now has made articles from the paper available for listening as well.
To use Newspaper Radio, User copy a newspaper's URL, and paste it into Microsoft Windows Media Player. Once stored in Window's Media Player, listeners can access the newspaper or magazine at any time.
"Imagine being able to listen to your favorite newspapers where ever and whenever you decide. It's like having USA Today Radio or the Daily Mail Radio available 24 hours a day in the palm of your hand," NewspaperDirect CEO Alexander Kroogman said in a statement. "And unlike traditional radio news, listeners can easily jump to stories that interest them. This is a truly on-demand, user-controlled, radio."
