NewspaperDirect Names Owen V.P. in Europe

By: E&P Staff NewspaperDirect, Vancouver, British Columbia, has appointed David Owen as vice president for Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

Based at the company's new London office, Owen's expertise in digital publishing stems from his role as newspaper publishing director at Xerox Corp., which he joined after 18 years at Britain's Guardian Newspapers, where he pioneered digital distribution. More recently, he was the global circulation business manager at Atex Media Corp.

Founded in 1999, NewspaperDirect provides same-day electronic transmission of 275 newspapers using a global network of some 400 print locations in more than 70 countries. Through partners it delivers printed papers to hotels, libraries, cruise ships, corporate offices, retail outlets, and home subscribers. The company's PressDisplay.com portal provides online access to newspapers for individual consumers and organizations.
