Members of America's Newspapers are encouraged to nominate their best editorials and columns for recognition with this year's Carmage Walls Commentary Writing Prize. The deadline for entries is next Wednesday, May 31. Not sure if your paper is a member? Email cdurham@newspapers.org.
Nominate your own work or take this opportunity to honor your newspaper's best columnists and editorial writers with a nomination.
In a column written for America’s Newspapers, Leonard Woolsey, president of Southern Newspapers, talks about the importance of newspaper editorials and columns. He called them “the heartbeat of a newspaper.”
That voice is an important part of your connection with your community and America's Newspapers is honored to recognize the talented writers across its membership who write with courage about the issues that most affect their local communities.
Awards in two categories will be presented this fall at the Senior Leadership Conference in October:
In each case, first-, second- and third-place honors will be awarded in two circulation breakouts: over 35,000 and under 35,000. In addition to recognition among the membership, a total of $15,000 in cash prizes also will be awarded. This contest is open to all members of America’s Newspapers — both daily and non-daily papers.
