By: E&P Staff Nielsen Online has unveiled a new syndicated Internet measurement tool, TotalWeb, that will track both Internet and mobile use.
The service will provide stats on the unduplicated, unique audience for more than 200 Internet sites across computer and mobile platforms. The data is gathered via Nielsen's MegaPanel, which surveys active mobile Internet users.
Nielsen -- owned by E&P's parent company, the Nielsen Co. -- reported results from the mobile Internet that audience reach of both weather and entertainment sites is extended by an average of 22% over home computer use alone.
More than 87 million U.S. mobile users subscribe to mobile Internet services, according to Nielsen, with more than one in 10 of those subscribers active.
