Rockaway, NJ – North Jersey Media Group (NJMG)  has announced that its Rockaway plant will assume printing and inserting for the New Jersey Herald as of Monday, April 2.  The New Jersey Herald, founded in 1820, is the daily newspaper of Sussex County, NJ and is owned by Quincy Newspapers, Inc. of Quincy, Illinois.

As publishers across the country turn to the cost-effective benefits of larger and more modern regional printing facilities, NJMG’s Rockaway facility has emerged to be one of the largest, most efficient in the nation. According to Herald Publisher Jack Findley, the economics of running and maintaining the Herald's aging presses, and the efficiencies gained by running on modern presses in Rockaway, made continuing to print at the Herald's Newton plant unfeasible. The high-speed presses of the Rockaway facility can both produce the entire press run of the daily paper in minutes and in full color, and can help the Herald offer a better delivery service to its readers.

“We are pleased that the New Jersey Herald has chosen North Jersey Media Group to handle its printing and packaging operations,” said Bob Konig, VP of Operations for NJMG. “Our Rockaway facility is uniquely positioned to offer top notch quality and production performance because of our people and our state-of-the-art equipment.”

NJMG’s Rockaway facility also prints USA Today, the Greater Media Newspapers and the Gannett Westchester-Rockland newspapers in addition to their own products. As newspapers seek to consolidate operations, the company continues to look for opportunities to partner with publishers who will benefit from the Rockaway facility’s capabilities. “Our philosophy when it comes to handling production for other publishers is to ‘treat them like our own,’” Konig continued. “We welcome New Jersey Herald to our family of print partners.”
