By: E&P Staff North Jersey Media Group has completely revamped the print classified sections in its Bergen and Passaic County dailies and 46 of its community newspapers.
The Record in Bergen County, N.J., and the Herald News in Passaic already unveiled the new look on Monday. The section has been geared toward a cleaner look with wider columns, category headings, and color capability.
"The changes make the pages much easier to navigate, thereby providing the reader with a much faster way to find what they are looking for," Tom Morgan, vice president of advertising at the company, said in a statement.
Like other newspapers across the country, including the Chicago Tribune, the papers in the North Jersey Media Group plan to roll out a modular ad format to the classified section. The move is expected to be completed by Jan. 1.
The three advertorial sections in the Record and Herald News -- North Jersey Cars, North Jersey Jobs, and North Jersey Homes -- got a make-over as well. The Friday and Sunday Home sections are being combined in a Saturday section, which is being expanded. The company said that Saturday is better suited to meet the needs of home improvement shoppers since Bergen County maintains "blue laws" preventing shopping on Sundays.
