Daily News on Wednesday laid off longtime television critic Eric Mink. Mink, who spent 8-1/2 years at the newspaper, declined to comment on the reasons for his leaving, but several sources confirmed that the
Daily News made the move for economic reasons.
In the current tight economic environment the company felt it could afford only one TV critic, according to sources. That would be David Bianculli, who works out of his home in southern New Jersey.
The newspaper, which is owned by real estate and publishing magnate Morton Zuckerman, declined to comment. Mink, 54, also refused to talk about his dismissal.
