By: E&P Staff The Daily News in New York shuttered its picture-heavy Sunday magazine, 25 Hours. The last issue was distributed in the paper on Sunday, May 22.
"It was very successful, readers loved it," said Daily News spokeswoman Eileen Murphy. Its popularity, however, didn't overcome a soft advertising market and long production cycles where timeliness was an issue, she explained.
The paper launched the magazine on Oct. 3. The paper plans to run an announcement about the decision, first reported on Gawker.com, on Sunday.
The entire staff of 10 people will be retained as the Daily News plans to keep the 25 Hour brand and transform it into a Web site.
