The New York Post launched its first iPad app, New York Post Pix, which may be downloaded for free through the Apple iTunes Store.
Each morning and afternoon, the iPad-optimized app presents high-resolution photos from the Post newsroom, featuring celebrity, sports and news pictures.
Users can view the photos separately or in a slide show, save favorites to a folder or to the iPad, access a five-day archive at any time and share the pictures with others.
The launch version comes with a video trailer from HBO's "True Blood" series, which debuts June 13.
The paper said its Post Pix will be followed soon by another app that delivers the full digital newspaper, as well as video and as-yet undisclosed content.
