By: E&P Staff Denver-based Thought Equity Motion Inc., a company founded in 2003 to digitize, deliver and monetize video content, was named exclusive licensing provider for raw footage from The New York Times video library, which consists of original segments produced regularly by New York Times journalists around the world.
The arrangement will make selected raw footage available for licensing on thoughtequity.com to producers, filmmakers and educators.
"Through our proprietary Content Services platform and Contextual Media offering, The New York Times collection will have advanced metadata tagging and delivery capabilities, making it searchable and accessible to creatives and producers looking to provide visual context to their stories," Thought Equity Motion CEO and founder Kevin Schaff said in announcing the agreement.
The Times collection comprises HD video footage covering news, culture, sports, entertainment, technology and all topics found in the Times and on NYTimes.com.
"We're excited about applying Thought Equity Motion's leading-edge technology and licensing expertise to drive new revenue from our library and furthering our goal of leveraging our interactive content in innovative ways," The New York Times News Service and Syndicate's general manager, Michael Greenspon, said in a statement. "With Thought Equity Motion's advanced tools, producers will be able to quickly search, preview, and download content online directly in a wide range of formats."
