By: E&P Staff The New York Times News Service said Wednesday it will now allow newspapers to post its content online without first publishing it in a print edition.
Introducing what it called an enhancement of its online news service, the new offering will include feeds of NYTimes.com content that will update each time a new story is pushed through.
This offer supplements the current wire service that includes content from The New York Times and other publishers, the Times News Service said. Photos and graphics will also be offered for online use.
"We are delighted to introduce this upgrade," Cristian Edwards, president of The New York Times News Services Division, said in a statement. "As the news cycle speeds up, we are working to provide our clients with faster news and increased publishing rights."
The new offering includes rights to publish NYTimes.com material that does not appear in the New York Times' print edition.
Clients can now publish 20 articles day on their Web sites and there's no restriction on when articles can be published, the news service said. Articles may stay on a client's site for up to seven days.
The Times News Service noted, however, that content form The New York Times Magazine and the Gray Lady's blogs are excluded from the offering.
