By: E&P Staff The New York Times Co. has announced that both nytimes.com/worldcup and iht.com will feature live blogging amid extensive coverage of the 2006 World Cup soccer tournament in Germany.
Coverage on the sites will include daily video footage and running game commentary, as well as a blog written by International Herald Tribune editor-at-large Roger Cohen. This will be in addition to reporting by a team of sports writers and columnists, and the sites will feature up-to-the-minute coverage that includes comprehensive statistics, standings and match information
Particularly notable matches, as well as those involving the United States soccer team, will be covered via live "match tracking" by commentators who will also incorporate reader reactions.
Additionally, nytimes.com subscriber-service TimesSelect will include a touranment blog called "Kicking and Screaming: Watching World Cup Soccer in Six Countries," featuring observations by soccer fans from around the world.
