By: E&P Staff It's featured top bloggers before, and The New York Times Magazine returns to the culture this Sunday with an interview featuring Markos Moulitsas Zuniga, who created the popular liberal site DailyKos and is co-author (with Jerome Armstrong) of a new book about election organizing called "Crashing the Gate."
One problem with a book: "You cannot link," he testifies.
Befitting the blogosphere, he is pictured in an orange t-shirt and blue jeans (with a hole in one knee). Gov. Mark Warner should have been so lucky last week.
Asked about 2008, he says he hopes Warner and Sen. Russell Feingold run for president, for starters. He says he met Sen. John Kerry only once, sort of, as they were in adjacent bathroom stalls at the Democratic National Convention in 2004.
The conservative "noise machine" still dominates, he says, adding, "The blog world is tiny compared to talk radio."
He also discusses his experience in basic training in the Army and says he much prefers the "non-celebrities" at the Huffington Post. Celebrity bloggers, he explains, "don't need a platform."
Thanks to the blog he now lives "comfortably" and says he just bought a house with his wife in Berkeley. "I avoid Washington like the plague," he explains.
