By: E&P Staff New York cable news network NY1 has on its site a profile of syndicated columnist Nat Hentoff, who reflects on nearly 60 years of reporting and writing in Gotham, and his many rewarding experiences in the business.
A former E&P columnist and the author of more than 30 books, Hentoff still writes a syndicated newspaper column and was released last year by the Village Voice. What followed, he says, was a flood of attention he did not expect.
"I had no idea that my work was regarded so highly,? he tells NY1. ?It was really like reading your own obituary while you're still here. And that gift is hardly given to many people.?
Hentoff also talks about some of his personal beliefs, as well as the perils of reviewing some of your friend?s music. Hentoff is among the world?s most highly regarded jazz critics.
