According to a New York Times report
, the paper has stopped taking ads for Verizon's FiOS Internet and TV service. Eric Rabe, a senior vice president of Verizon told the Times, "They made it clear we didn't need to keep calling."
Earlier this month, Newsday rejected an ad from the Tennis Channel criticizing Cablevision for not offering the channel to customers and promoting the channel's availability on FiOS, Dish Network and DirecTV.
Cablevision -- which also owns Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, the New York Knicks and New York Rangers, and Long Island's local news station, News 12 -- bought Newsday from the Tribune Co. in May 2008 for $650 million.
