By: E&P Staff The New York Times Co. promoted Catherine Mathis to senior vice president, corporate communications and Kenneth Richieri to senior vice president and general counsel, effective immediately. Both Mathis and Richieri were previously vice presidents.
"These appointments reflect the depth of experience and numerous contributions Catherine and Ken have made to our business during their respective tenures," Janet Robinson, president and CEO of the company, said in a statement.
Mathis, who has been with the company since 1997, continues to be responsible for investor and media relations. Prior to joining the Times, Mathis was vice president of corporate relations at the Overseas Shipholding Group. She also held management positions at International Paper Co. Mathis is the president of the Investor Relations Association.
Richieri was named general counsel at the Times in 2006. He joined the company in 1983 and served in various legal positions including handling electronic publishing, intellectual property, and business issues. Richieri was an associate at Cahill Gordon & Reindel from 1976 through 1982.
