By: E&P Staff The New York Time Co. reported that November total revenue grew 1.7% on gains in circulation revenue and About.com compared to the same period a year ago.
Total advertising revenue was virtually flat down 0.2%. The company benefited from an extra "holiday weekend" this November compared to November 2006.
National advertising at the company soared 8.2% to $95.8 million. Retail advertising fell 4.7% to $47.1 million. Classified revenue plunged 19.5% to $31.2 million.
Circulation revenue rose 3.7% to $70 million.
Total ad revenue at the New York Times Media Group grew 3% on the strength of national advertising. Retail and classified revenues were soft.
The New England Media Group reported that ad revenue declined 6.4% on weakness in all three major categories.
Ad revenue at the Regional Media Group slipped 10.3% on declines in retail and classified advertising.
At About.com, revenue increased 23.7%. Excluding recent acquisitions at About.com, ad revenue grew 12%.
Internet advertising at the News Media Group advanced 21.4% on gains in display advertising.
