By: E&P Staff Attempting to capture new and younger readers, The New York Times Co. is teaming up with Facebook's Ad system, which allows users to learn about content from the company's newspapers through word of mouth.
"Our arrangement with Facebook give us the opportunity to distribute NYTimes.com content to a very engaged readership and viral distribution platform," said Vivian Schiller, senior vice president and general manager of NYTimes.com, in a statement.
Users can sign on to the page - www.facebook/nytimes.com -- and access features like the most e-mailed, top news, and video. Facebook users can do the same with The Boston Globe (www.facebook/boston) and the regional media group (http://gatorsports.com/facebook).
The company is also using Facebook's opt-in feature Beacon, which lets members share activities from other sites back to Facebook. For example, Facebook users can share their ratings of travel venues featured on NYTimes.com.
