By: E&P Staff The New York Times has announced that Andrew DeVigal will be the Multimedia Editor for the paper's Web newsroom.
Having worked in the graphics departments of the Contra Costa Times and the Chicago Tribune, DeVigal will be involved in the Times' plans to consolidate their print and online operations in the coming months. He will oversee a staff of multimedia producers and direct the presentation of audio, graphics and slide shows on the NYTimes.com Web site.
DeVigal has been a teacher on faculty at both the Poynter Institute and San Francisco State University, and has worked a a designer and producer for the Tribune and Knight Ridder's Web sites. He also built the Web site
Interactive Narratives, which tracks the best examples of online journalism and the technical innovations behind them.
