'NYT' Production Snags Delay Deliveries

Posted
By: E&P Staff Unspecified production problems caused yesterday's copies of The New York Times to be delivered an hour or more late, and deliveries this morning were 45 minutes late.

At off-site meetings, neither Production Vice President Thomas P. Lombardo nor plant manager Nick D'Andrea could be reached for comment.

"A combination of things [that] happens from time to time" was the only description a production staffer would offer, referring questions to a Times spokesperson.

New York Times Co. Public Relations Director Abbe Serphos confirmed "some delays yesterday that ranged from 30-90 minutes, depending on the distribution area." She attributed the delays to "minor mechanical and electrical problems."

Mitchell'sNY delivery company owner Roy Newman did not reply to a message left earlier today. A recording on his company's main telephone number, however, informed customers Friday to expect deliveries to be delayed approximately 45 minutes because of late truck arrivals.
