'NYT' Seeks User-Generated Content For Polling Place Photo Project

Posted
By: EditorsWeblog.org is reporting that The New York Times is starting a citizen-journalism project called The Polling Place Photo Project. The Polling Place Photo Project is one of the Times' first attempts to include user-generated content in the news process.

The project is a nationwide experiment that encourages voters to capture, post and share photographs of this year's primaries, caucuses and general election.

The logic behind it is that by "documenting local voting experiences, participants can contribute to an archive of photographs that captures the richness and complexity of voting in America."

The Times had experimented with user-generated content before with its "How We Met," project. It asked couples to submit footage of their relationship.
