'OC Post' Launches AMS Text-alerts Platform

By: E&P Staff OC Post, the daily tabloid from the publisher of The Orange County (Calif.) Register, has launched a dynamic text-message alert platform using technology developed by Advanced Mobile Solutions, Wayne, Pa.

The a quick-read newspaper contains daily local, national and world news, sports, entertainment and lifestyle features, with content edited and organized to meet the needs of time-crunched residents.

The MyContent2Go text-alert platform delivers Short Message Service alerts for local news and sports, supplied by the newspaper's editorial staff, and nearly 40 AMS syndicated categories (including weather, college and pro sports, Hollywood gossip, horoscopes etc.) directly to subscribers' mobile phones.

"There are essential changes that newspapers must make today to keep up with readers' increasingly mobile lives, and thus improve audience reach," AMS President and CEO Bret Dunlap said in a statement. "Being omnipresent is one of the most effective ways to do this."

MyContent2Go allows users to register via a partner's branded Web site, select content categories, and schedule timing of alerts. They also may text keywords (weather, gossip news, etc.) to request information.
