'O.C. Register' Parent Launches, Buys Niche Mags

By: E&P Staff OCR Magazines, a unit of the same Freedom Orange County Information that publishes The Orange County Register in Santa Ana, Calif., has bought a quarterly tourism magazine, and launched a children's niche publication in the last month, the California Newspaper Publishers Association (CNPA) reported Tuesday.

Preferred Destinations, a quarterly targeting affluent tourists through distribution of 75,000 copies at Orange County resorts and hotels, was acquired by OCR last month.

Also in March, OCR launched the first issue of Orange County, a quarterly that will be delivered to 50,000 families with children in Orange County. It also will be distributed at targeted doctors' offices and local children-oriented businesses, CNPA said.
