By: E&P Staff The Newspaper Association of American designated Oct. 13 as International Newspaper Carrier Day. To commemorate the day, the organization created ads that can be downloaded at http://www.naa.org. The ad's theme: thoughts of the day.
"Newspaper carriers come from all walks of life, but they have one thing in common -- they present shining examples of service and dedication not only to our industry, but to their communities as well," John Sturm, president and CEO of the NAA, said in a statement. "We are pleased to set aside this special day to show our appreciation for this essential service to the industry."
The day coincides with National Newspaper Week from Oct. 7- Oct. 13.
Some former newspapers carriers highlighted by the NAA include John Wayne, Warren Buffet, and Martin Luther King, Jr. - all of whom are in the Newspaper Carrier Hall of Fame.
