October Ad Revenue up at 'WSJ'

By: E&P Staff Advertising revenue at The Wall Street Journal grew 5.7% in October on a 1.8% increase in advertising volume.

Financial lineage rose 10.2%. Technology lineage advanced 3.3%. General lineage was up 0.4%. Classified lineage declined 3.7% due to a decrease in real estate advertising.

Advertising revenue at Ottaway dropped 4.8%. Ad volume fell 10.8%.

John Janedis, an analyst at Wachovia, lowered his Q4 estimates for the company based on what he believes will be a weak November and December. In a note released today, he reduced the Q4 forecast for ad revenue growth from 4% to 1.5%.
