Odds Columnist: McCain Slightly Gaining on Obama -- and New Info Coming

Posted
By: Dave Astor Barack Obama is still favored to win the election, but odds columnist Benjamin Eckstein has John McCain closing the gap a bit.

In new presidential odds posted yesterday on Eckstein's "America's Line" site, Barack Obama dropped from 1/2 to 4/7 while John McCain improved from 6/4 to 5/4. Eckstein attributed much of the bounce to the choice of Sarah Palin as McCain's running mate.

For Eckstein's comments about his latest numbers and news about his plan to post state-by-state presidential odds, see the E&P blog post here.

Eckstein is best known for the 20-year-old "America's Line" sports-odds column he does for 125 newspapers via Universal Press Syndicate.
