By: E&P Staff Roger Ogden was appointed to the newly created position of senior vice president of design, innovation, and strategy for Gannett. He will continue to serve as president and CEO of Gannett Broadcast.
Ogden will head the Center for Design and Innovation, a new entity within the company that will encourage development of new business. The center will assign ideas submitted by employees to teams for study and implementation.
In addition to Ogden, Sue Clark-Johnson, president of the newspaper division, Craig Moon, president and publisher of USA Today, Paul Davidson, chairman and CEO of Newsquest, and Jack Williams, president of Gannett Digital will have significant roles at the center.
"Innovation is the future of Gannett, and Roger has proven his ability to encourage new ideas and make them business-ready," said Craig Dubow, president and CEO of Gannett, in a statement. "The Center for Design and Innovation is a key part of our strategy for growing Gannett and stimulating innovation throughout the company."
Ogden became president and CEO of Gannett's broadcasting division in July 2005. Prior to that he was senior vice president of the division and president and general manager of K*USA-TV in Denver. Ogden was also president and managing director of NBC Europe. He began his broadcast career at age 13 in Denver at radio station KPOF.
