Oklahoma Senate Panel Kills Bill to End Tax Exemption on Newspaper Subscriptions

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A Senate panel on Tuesday killed a bill that would have required sales taxes to be paid on newspaper subscriptions.

Senate Bill 1098 by Sen. Jim Wilson, D-Tahlequah, would have removed the exemption from newspapers and periodicals, allowing the collection of the state's 4.5 percent sales tax as well as local sales taxes.
