By: E&P Staff Montreal-based Nstein Technologies Inc. announced that Omaha World-Herald Co., owner of dailies and weeklies in Nebraska and Iowa, has selected Nstein's Text Mining Engine to semantically organize its library of media assets.
Central to the company's aim to flatten the newsroom to serve all channels and produce news around the clock is the ability to tag media assets with rich metadata that reflect the brand and the markets it serves. Nstein Technologies text mining will enable efficient, consistent tagging of all content, including articles, images, and videos. Besides enhancing editorial search, the tags will aid search engine optimization on all its sites, automate workflows, enable personalization, and streamline syndication efforts.
"Management immediately recognized that if we wanted to create a new vertical on, say, Outdoor Sports, we would now be able to mine our assets and create new products almost on the fly," Assistant Managing Editor Jeff Carney said in a statement. "Eventually we plan to tag advertising as well -- to better associate relevant content with ads."
