'On the Spot Weather' is Offered

By: E&P Staff The Weather Channel has launched "On the Spot Weather," a system that can provide forecasts for areas as small as one square mile. It uses existing sensors (such as National Weather Service stations) and satellite and radar images.

The Weather Channel began as a TV network but has since expanded to other media. One unit is The Weather Channel Newspaper Service, which offers forecasts as well as other features such as air-quality reports, sunrise/sunset times, and weather trivia.
