By: E&P Staff Software developer OneVision, Regensburg, Germany, and Jersey City, N.J., has released version 9.0 of its Asura and Solvero prepress solutions, both of which are now XPS compatible.

The software has been upgraded to increase workflow automation and control, and includes such features as XMP metadata support, a new transparency flattening engine, and six JPEG compression options. The latest version also offers improved file queue prioritization and control, and increased flexibility when previewing content. Solvero 9.0, made for Macs, also includes new enhancements for editing text, images, graphics and colors.

With the upgrade, Asura and Solvero can check, correct and output files in PDF, EPS, PostScript and now XPS formats. XPS refers to the new graphics file type produced with Windows VistaT. Conversion into the file format needed for the RIP can be done either automatically with Asura or manually with Solvero. With Solvero 9.0, text, images and graphics of XPS files can be edited along with PDF, PostScript or EPS files.
