By: E&P Staff Hollinger Inc., the Toronto-based holding company that holds a controlling stake in the publishing company of the Chicago Sun-Times, Friday won Ontario Superior Court of Justice permission to add three new directors, the company said.
Joining the board of directors will be Patrick Hodgson, a partner at the Toronto investment firm KJ Harrison and Partners; Robert Gillespie, the former chairman and CEO of General Electric Canada Inc.; and G. Wesley Voorheis, a partner in the law firm Voorheis & Co. LLP.
The three had previously been approved for appointment by Hollinger Inc.'s board of directors, but the appointment was subject to approval of the court, which has overseen the company since its former chairman, Conrad Black, and other key executives were accused of involvement in a financial scandal at the holding company and Chicago-based Hollinger International, publisher of the Sun-Times.
Hollinger Inc.'s principal asset is its approximately 66.8% voting and 17.4% equity interest in Hollinger International, which intends to change its name to Sun-Times Media Group.
