By: E&P Staff "Open Season" is opening in movie theaters this Friday.
The Sony Pictures Animation
film was co-created and executive produced by "In the Bleachers" cartoonist Steve Moore of Universal Press Syndicate.
It's the story of a domesticated bear (voiced by Martin Lawrence) who ends up in the wild. The bear, a mule deer (Ashton Kutcher), and other characters get together to turn the tables against hunters.
Others in the voice cast include Debra Messing and Gary Sinise.
Several movies with newspaper-syndication connections have been released this year. They include "Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties" (based on the comic by Jim Davis of Universal) and "Over the Hedge" (based on the comic by Michael Fry and T Lewis of United Media).
