The Association of Opinion Page Editors presented its 2000 awards at its recent annual conference in Sacramento, Calif.
The Best Op-Ed Feature Award: St. Louis Post-Dispatch for its "Point of View" photography commentary feature.
Best Theme Page Award: The Palm Beach Post of Florida for "Growing Up Behind Bars," January 23.
Best Op-Ed Page Award: The Philadelphia Inquirer for "Citizen Voices: Race and Diversity," Oct. 21, 1999
Best Series Award: Newsday of Long Island, N.Y., for its series, "The Suburban Century and Beyond", running from Nov. 24, 1999-Jan. 10.
Best Overall Section Award: Atlanta Journal-Constitution for "Inside the 2000 Georgia Legislature" section, Jan. 9, 2000.
Noel Rubinton, viewpoints editor at Newsday, was elected president of the group for 2000-2001.
