Orders to Move Capitol Media Offices Draw Questions

Nine news organizations using state-supplied space for coverage of legislative activities and state government were told this week that their offices are being taken over for Senate staff as part of a $750,000 renovation project in the Capitol.

The Senate Administration Committee decision was made with little advance notice to the affected media outlets, including the Tribune, and comes days before lawmakers begin pre-filing bills for the legislative session that begins Jan. 7.
