By: E&P Staff Dagbladet, Oslo, Norway, the first to buy the NewsDesk editorial system, in 1995, from CCI-Europe, Arhus, Denmark, has just moved to version 6.12 after upgrading through several releases.
Dagbladet wanted to have one editorial system for its newsrooms, and with the introduction of CCI NewsGate, its online and print newsrooms will merge, feeding content to all news channels.
The CCI NewsGate story folder will facilitate cooperation among journalists, graphics artists and photographers. Using the Autonomy search engine, the story folder can automatically find and link to related stories. Aiming to produce more and better content with the same size staff, Dagbladet will use CCI NewsGate planning features to ensure efficient deployment of resources.
CCI NewsGate and the story folder provide improved tools to manage content gathering, planning, and allocating resources, and give all users access to relevant material in one folder, according to Editor Peter Raaum.
Thus CCI NewsGate enables Dagbladet's newsrooms to increase journalists' flexibility and mobility. Greater newsroom mobility, both geographically and departmentally, enables managers and editors to optimize staff allocation, while flexibility encourages collaboration in a convergent environment.
Dagbladet will use CCI NewsGate to reuse content, meaning not only maximizing the use of content, but also the use and reuse of research, information, people and knowledge in the newsrooms and products in order to exploit all revenue opportunities.
As part of the project, Dagbladet will replace its archive with CCI's LongTermStorage solution, enabling storage and retrieve of all information from story folders, in addition to traditional printed products.
By the time Dagbladet relocates next May, the online newsroom will start working in CCI NewsGate, with the printed products to follow shortly after.
