By: (AP) The new publisher of the
Ottumwa Courier has begun work with plans to improve local news coverage.
"We want to provide the best newspaper we can," said David Gentry, 54, who started Wednesday.
Gentry, 54, came to the
Courier from Central Wisconsin Newspapers, a Lee Enterprises company, where he was group publisher, overseeing eight newspapers, three shopper groups, and a commercial print facility.
In Iowa, Gentry will serve as vice president of Community Newspaper Holdings Inc.'s Plains Division, coordinating activities of the company's Iowa newspapers in Clinton, Oskaloosa, Cherokee, Storm Lake, Spencer, Spirit Lake, Centerville, Pella, and Knoxville.
The company's corporate office for the region will move to Ottumwa from Clinton, Gentry said.
CNHI, based in Birmingham, Ala., owns more than 200 daily, weekly, and semiweekly newspapers across the country.
