Packer, Man on the Street, Strikes Again

Posted
By: E&P Staff Greg Packer, the New York legend who became famous as a freelance "man in the street" quoted in hundreds in newspaper articles commenting on dozens of public events, has struck again.

Naturally, Packer attended the giant, media-swarmed anti-Bush protest march in New York on Sunday, with a twist: He was there as a Bush backer, not whacker. This practically guaranteed some ink, and The Palm Beach Post of West Palm Beach, Fla., obliged, quoting him in a Monday story.

Walking with a sign offering to volunteer to help the Republicans at their convention, Packer told the Post, "I signed up, but they didn't pick me. They don't even have to pay me."
