'Palladium-Item' Publisher Metzger Named 'Indianapolis Star' Digital Editor

By: E&P Staff Juli Metzger has been named executive editor for digital and custom content at The Indianapolis Star. She will officically assume her new duties on Monday.

Metzger had served as publisher of the the Palladium-Item, of Richmond, Ind., and The Star Press in Muncie, Ind. The announcement of her departure was made Thursday morning by Gary Suisman, president and publisher of the Palladium-Item?s sister newspaper, the Journal & Courier in Lafayette.

In addition to her editorial duties, Metzger also will take on the role of director of niche publishing for the Interstate Newspaper Group, which includes The Cincinnati Enquirer, The Courier-Journal in Louisville, and Gannett's other daily and non-daily publications in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Wisconsin.

Metzger had been publisher of the Star Press since 2005, and was tapped to lead the Richmond paper last fall when former president and publisher Bob Robbins announced his retirement.

The Star also promoted Jenny Green to managing editor/daily. Green has been at The Star since 2001 and most recently was senior editor for planning, which put her in charge of the Star?s copy desk, night production and newsroom planning.
