'Palm Beach Post' Executive Editor Burke Adds Publisher Title

By: E&P Staff Palm Beach Post Executive Editor Tim Burke is taking on the additional title of publisher for Palm Beach Newspapers, which includes the Post, the Palm Beach Daily News and La Palma.

In addition to retaining his editorship, Burke, 49, will retain his role as vice president for audience development.

Burke has been editor since April, when he was promoted from vice president for digital media for Palm Beach Newspapers Inc. (PBNI)

In his 16 years at the Post, Burke has also been sports editor, assistant managing editor for sports, and deputy managing editor.

"Tim is the right person for this job," Bob Neil, executive vice president for Cox Media Group, said in a statement. "He's smart, and he rolls up his sleeves and gets into the action. PBNI is starting to rebuild our products around what our readers and advertisers want, and Tim will bring energy and enthusiasm to that mission."

"We're innovating and changing with the times," Burke said in a statement. "At the same time we remain committed to our important watchdog role in our community."

Prior to joining the Post, Burke was assistant sports editor at the Miami Herald for six years, and also worked as a sports editor and reporter at the Dallas Times-Herald and Springfield (Mo.) News-Leader.
