By: E&P Staff The Palo Alto (Calif.) Daily News has hired a general manager and named two managing editors.
General Manager Shareef Dajani joins the Daily News from Hills Newspapers in the East Bay, where he held the same position since 2001. The Hills papers are part of the Contra Costa (Calif.) Times, where Dajani started as an account executive in 1993 and went on to serve as its recruitment sales manager, classified director, and joint initiatives manager.
Nancy Reardon has been promoted to managing editor, from reporter. In her new capacity she will supervise the paper's editing and production. The other newly appointed managing editor, Jamie Casini, formerly served as city editor at The San Francisco Examiner and will be in charge of news coverage.
Both managing editors received master's degrees in journalism from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, Reardon in 2005 and Casini in 2002. Reardon has written for five papers in Boston and New York. Casini sits on the board of directors for the Peninsula Press Club and has received two Peninsula Press Club awards.
