By: E&P Staff Quick action by a newspaper delivery boy in a small community just north of Buffalo, N.Y. saved an 81-year-old woman trapped in her home on Monday.
The boy, age 12, while delivering the Buffalo News, suspected something might be wrong when he noticed that the paper he had delivered Sunday morning to the home on Grand Island was still at his customer's door, which he felt odd, despite the holiday weekend.
Going around to a side door, he heard screams and pounding for help. He immediately ran home. His mother called the Sheriff's Department, which alerted a Fire Company.
Audrey Yehle, it turns out, had fallen Saturday -- two days earlier -- and became wedged between a stairwell and the back door.
She was taken to a local hospital for treatment for weakness and dehydration.
"I feel good," he told the News. "I feel like I did something really good."
