'Pardon' Comic Doesn't Pardon U.S. Presence in Iraq

Posted
By: E&P Staff Five days after "Dooonesbury" and "Pearls Before Swine" paid tribute to America's war dead, another comic has made reference to the U.S. occupation of Iraq.

In today's installment of the usually nonpolitical "Pardon My Planet," cartoonist Vic Lee shows his Jesse Jane and Norris characters at a restaurant. Jesse Jane says to the waitress: "I'd like an entire administration overthrow, an economic uptick, a pullout in Iraq, peace in ... uh, sorry, I think I'd just like the Eggplant Cannelloni."

"Pardon My Planet" appears in more tha 130 newspapers, according to King Features Syndicate's Web site.
