By: Pauline Millard Today I came across a video on The New York Times' Web site made by veteran photographer Fred Conrad.
He found a
family out in Staten Island whose son Mark Petrocelli, was killed on September 11th. It's a touching interview with Mark's parents and focuses around the memorial Mark's father, Al Petrocelli, made for him in the front of their home.
As with most of the projects that I pick for this column, I am most impressed by the level of access Conrad got with the Petrocelli family. He's there first thing in the morning as Al leaves for church and then follows the parents into mass. Conrad also does a good job recreating the scene at Ground Zero using stock photos and others supplied by the family.
