PAULINE'S PICKS: Primaries Yield Lots Of Election Multimedia

Posted
By: Pauline Millard Elections demand that journalists produce a lot of content, both in terms of print and photos. Luckily, the Internet offers lots of options for highlighting everything that comes out of a feverish campaign.

Today's action is in New Hampshire, where voters are heading to the polls and where polticians and journalists alike have taken over. All the madness has spawned some great photos, which the Concord Monitor is highlighting.

The paper created a quickie photo blog through Blogger and has been feeding photos onto it. They then linked that blog to its main site, and now everyone who logs on for election updates can also see the photogallery.

It's a great solution especially if your in-house tech team is a little slow on the uptake and doesn't react to new projects quickly. The Internet is a land of do-it-your projects, and this photoblog is a great example of that.

The front runner in all the primary hoopla is Barack Obama. No one could be more proud of him than the Chicago Tribune. They have created an all-Obama site that covers pretty much every aspect of the presidential candidate. There are photo galleries of both Barack and his wife and every facet of the campaign trail. There are links to print stories and video clips. I'm also amazed by how many ads they managed to squeeze onto the pages without making it look cluttered.

Next stop: South Carolina.
