By: Pauline Millard Detroit is known for its cars, and its residents seem to love cruising around and showing off their pride and joy.
The Detroit Free Press is aware of this auto affinity and has created a
photo gallery of many of the cars puttering around town. They cover everything from the Dream Cruise finals to Thursdays on Woodward Avenue and let readers submit their own photos of their rides.
Some of my favorites include the 1936 Mercedes that one man built from a kit. On the other side of the luxury spectrum, there is a photo of man who shows off his 1974 Gremlin on Woodward Avenue every week. He says he puts no work into it, but he gets lots of attention.
Newspaper are always looking for a new, local angle to draw readers to their Web sites. In a town such as Detroit, car eye candy will defintely keep bringing people back.
